Reading from the Torah

HEBREWS

INTRODUCTION

The book of Hebrews isn’t just a letter — it’s a divine bridge between the Tanakh and the Brit Chadashah, revealing how Yeshua the Messiah fulfills the Torah, the prophets, and the priesthood itself. Written to Jewish believers facing persecution, Hebrews calls us to hold fast to faith — showing that Yeshua is greater than Moses, greater than the angels, and the ultimate High Priest who entered the heavenly Holy of Holies once for all.

CHAPTER 1

Who is Yeshua? Hebrews 1 deals with this question as the foundation of the entire letter. Chapter 1 reveals Yeshua as the Son, the radiance of God’s glory and exact expression of His being, through whom HaShem created the worlds and now speaks His fullest revelation. He is the enthroned Messiah, greater than the angels, the embodiment of the Primordial Torah, who purifies us from sin, and reigns forever at the right hand of the Majesty on high.

CHAPTER 2

Hebrews 2 contains the key to understanding the entire book of Hebrews: “For He has not put the World to Come, of which we speak, in subjection to angels” (Hebrews 2:5). The whole message of Hebrews is about the Olam Haba — the World to Come. Discover how this verse impacts the entire understanding of this mysterious letter.

CHAPTER 3

Hebrews 3 presents Messiah Yeshua as the High Priest and Shaliach (Sent One), the faithful Son over the House of God, the One to whom Moshe’s own faithfulness pointed. From a Messianic Jewish Rabbinic perspective, the chapter warns us not to repeat the sin of the wilderness generation, but to hear HaShem’s voice “today,” hold fast in emunah, and press on toward the promised rest of the Olam HaBa.

CHAPTER 4

In Hebrews 4, we are brought face to face with the living Word of God — sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, joints and marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart. This chapter continues the warning and promise of entering HaShem’s rest, connecting the wilderness generation, Joshua, Shabbat, and the hope of the World to Come.

CHAPTER 5

Hebrews 5 explains that every high priest is appointed to represent the people before God, offering gifts and sacrifices and dealing compassionately with human weakness. Yeshua did not appoint Himself to this honor, but was chosen by God as Son and Priest, according to the order of Melchizedek. Through His suffering, prayers, tears, and obedience, He became the source of eternal salvation for all who obey Him. Althouth, the audience should be mature teachers by now, they still need spiritual “milk” instead of the solid food of deeper wisdom.
